  • Dinosaurs helped build the pyramids - Far from becoming extinct 65 million years ago, the dinosaurs actually co-existed with early humans, and even helped in the construction of the pyramids.
This is the word of Vince Fenech, Evangelist pastor and director of a fully licensed, State-approved Creationist institution which admits children aged between four and 18.
  • Oregon tribe to allow same sex marriagesAt the request of a lesbian couple, the Coquille Indian Tribe on the southern Oregon coast has adopted a law recognizing same-sex marriage. Tribal law specialists say the Coquille appear to be the first tribe to sanction such marriages. Most tribal law doesn’t address the issue. The Navajo and Cherokee tribes prohibit same-sex marriages
  • Claims of magnets’ effect on water don’t stick - Magnets have no significant role in treating water, despite the claims of their manufacturers, according to a new study by the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan. So-called magnetic water- treatment devices, which are said to remove and reduce residual chlorine and toxic substances through magnetism, have practically no effect, the center said Wednesday. Companies manufacturing or selling the devices — often over the Internet or door to door — claim to improve the taste of water, giving it a “softer, mellower,” flavor through magnetism.
  • Opt-out plan shields doctors over abortions – The Bush administration Thursday announced plans to implement a regulation designed to protect doctors, nurses and other health-care workers who object to abortion from being forced to deliver services that violate their beliefs. The rule empowers federal health officials to pull funding from more than 584,000 hospitals, clinics, health plans, doctors offices and other entities if they do not accommodate employees who refuse to participate in care they find objectionable on personal, moral or religious grounds. “People should not be forced to say or do things they believe are morally wrong,” Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt said. – Skepdude says : What if a city hall clerk refuses to perform a marriage for an interracial couple because they find it “morally wrong”?
  • Saudi ban on woman drivers may be erodingWhen Ruwaida al-Habis’ father and two brothers were badly burned in a fire, she had no choice but to break Saudi Arabia’s ban on women drivers to get them to a clinic. “When I pulled up, a crowd of people surrounded the car and stared as if they were seeing extraterrestrial beings,” the 20-year-old university student told The Associated Press. “Instead of focusing on the burn victims, the nurses kept repeating, ‘You drove them here?’” Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that bans all women – Saudi and foreign – from driving. The prohibition forces families to hire live-in drivers, and women who cannot afford the $300-$400 a month for a driver must rely on male relatives to drive them to work, school, shopping or the doctor. But there are signs support for the ban is eroding.
  • Survey: Americans feel churches shouldn’t meddle in politics – The survey suggests that for the first time in more than a decade, there has been a shift away from the view that religious groups should influence social and political issues. Fifty-two percent of poll respondents said churches should stay quiet, while 46 percent said churches should express political views

  • Marla Steele makes pet talk a two-way street – For as long as I can remember I’ve had psychic dreams. And I’ve always had lots of pets — dogs, cats and horses. Sometimes when my cats were away from the house for what seemed like a long time, I would call them home in my mind and they would show up a few minutes later. Or when I was in bed and wanted to snuggle up with my dogs I would do the same thing, call them in my mind and they would come into my room. This happened enough times that I knew it wasn’t just coincidence. The more I paid attention to my dreams and the information I was picking up from my animals while I was awake, the clearer they became.
  • Woman gives birth to cups !!!A Mozambican woman recently gave birth to three cups in the southern province of Gaza, independent television channel Stv reported on Thursday, showing images of the crockery. The Mozambican association of traditional healers (Ametramo) told the station that there was nothing strange about the story.
  • Records show more Texas sect members wed minorsFive men from a polygamist sect raided by Texas authorities in April stand accused of sexually assaulting children, but they may not be the only ones. Church documents disclosed as part of a separate child custody case over the last several months identify at least 10 other men as allegedly having married girls who were 16 or younger. The girls’ fathers and stepfathers blessed the unions and sometimes even presided over ceremonies between other young girls and adult men, the documents show. In all, about 20 underage girls, a few as young as 12, are identified in the documents as having married jailed sect leader Warren Jeffs or one of his followers.
  • Man accused of killing stepdaughters in Satanic ritualProsecutors say 26-year-old Lawrence Douglas Harris Sr., who faces two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly killing his 8- and 10-year-old stepdaughters in January, was practicing satanism and carefully planned the killings as a part of a spell or ritual from “The Satanic Bible.” Harris owned a spell notebook, prosecutors say, that contained references to and drawings from “The Satanic Bible,” widely considered the founding document of the Church of Satan, “Necronomicom,” the so-called dangerous book of the dead invented by author H.P. Lovecraft and “Pagan Ways,” an introduction to Paganism. Firefighters found the girls, 10-year-old Kendra Suing and 8-year-old Alysha Suing, stabbed and strangled in their bedrooms on Jan. 6. Authorities had been dispatched to the house at 1420 Nebraska St. for a fire in the basement.
  • Increase in measles spread mostly due to anti-vaccination parents - The number of measles cases in the U.S. is at its highest level since 1997, and nearly half of those involve children whose parents rejected vaccination, government health officials reported Thursday. Pediatricians are frustrated, saying they are having to spend more time convincing parents the shot is safe. The CDC’s review found that a number of cases involved home-schooled children not required to have the vaccines. In a typical year, only one outbreak occurs in the United States, infecting perhaps 10 to 20 people. So far this year through July 30 the country has seen seven outbreaks, including one in Illinois with 30 cases, said Seward, deputy director of the CDC’s Division of Viral Diseases. Of this year’s total, 122 were unvaccinated or had unknown vaccination status. Some were unvaccinated because the children were under age 1, making them too young to get their first measles shot.
  • Nigerian man faces death over his 86 wives – Nigeria’s Islamic authority has told the man who has 86 wives to choose only four and repent within three days or else he will be sentenced to death. Talking to the media then, Mr Abubakar challenged Muslim scholars, saying there is no punishment stated in the Koran for having more than four wives. “A man with 10 wives would collapse and die, but my own power is given by Allah. That is why I have been able to control 86 of them,” he told the BBC.

  • Bigfoot hoax revealed - The body of a supposed ape-man found in the North Georgia mountains was an empty rubber monkey suit embedded in ice, according to California Bigfoot enthusiasts who got a chance to examine the find over the weekend. The two Atlanta men who stood up at a news conference in California on Friday and tried to convince the world they had found Bigfoot apparently can’t be located, just like the real Bigfoot. The answering machine on a “tip line” connected to the pair’s Web site, which advertises $499 Bigfoot “expeditions,” said they’re out searching for Sasquatch, in addition to leprechauns, dinosaurs, unicorns, Jimmy Hoffa and Elvis.
  • The Jewel of Medina pulled from bookstores in Serbia – A novel about the Prophet Muhammad was pulled from bookstores in Serbia to avoid conflict with the country’s Muslim minority, its Serbian publisher, Beobook, said Tuesday. The book, “The Jewel of Medina,” by Sherry Jones, an American journalist, describes the relationship between Muhammad and his wife Aisha.
  • Judge orders girl in sect back to foster care – SAN ANGELO, Tex. (AP) — A 14-year-old girl believed to have been married at age 12 to the jailed polygamist sect leader Warren S. Jeffs with her parents’ blessing was ordered back into foster care on Tuesday by a Texas judge. The judge, Barbara Walther of District Court, said that there was “uncontroverted evidence of the under-age marriage” and that the girl’s mother, Barbara Jessop, refused to guarantee the girl’s safety. The girl, shown kissing Mr. Jeffs in photographs submitted to the court, must immediately enter foster care, the judge ruled.
  • KC church close to $10M settlement for child abuse charges – The bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City and St. Joseph says a tentative $10 million deal has been reached to settle 47 sexual abuse claims against a dozen clergy or former clergy. • Church sues HIV positive ex-member- A CHURCH in Kampala has sued a woman living with HIV/AIDS and a pastor for defamation. The church’s leaders, Gilson Costa and Gerald Nkayi, were not in court but their lawyer Deepa Verma Jivram said Adroa and Male caused publication of defamatory statements which injured the status and character of her clients.

  • Australian priest charged with sexual assault – The 65-year-old clergyman was arrested Thursday. He is accused of assaulting 18 boys between the ages of 11 and 17 during the 1970s and ’80s while he served as the priest at a church in Newcastle, 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of Sydney.
  • Yet another age reversing device, this one for your face - What it claims to do: The manufacturer, Hanna Ibes, Inc., says the Flex-Away facial exerciser gives the face and neck muscles the “workout they need to stay fit and healthy.” It promises users will see their “down-turned lips become rounded and lifted, giving the entire face a younger appearance” and “lower cheeks appear hollower for a classic sculptured look. What the experts say: Dr. Anthony Youn, a Michigan-based, board-certified plastic surgeon and msnbc.com contributor, says I shouldn’t feel bad about that my Flex-Away didn’t revitalize my aging face. There’s never been a study that’s shown that flexing the muscles does anything,” he says.
  • Hunters claim to have found Bigfoot - Named Rickmat in honour of Rick Dyer and Matthew Whitton, Bigfoot hunters who claim to have bagged the 500lb ’corpse’ during an expedition in the US state of Georgia, it was being hailed today as potentially the “greatest discovery of the millennium” – by its finders, at least. Photographs of Rickmat lying crumpled and apparently decapitated in a chest freezer drew so many visitors to one website today that it crashed under the pressure. But Dyer and Whitton’s own website – bigfoottracker.com – appeared well prepared for the onslaught, advertising opportunities for the public to take guided tours in the footsteps of Rickmat for $499 a time, and selling T-Shirts declaring: “Bigfoot for President.” “We have located a family of Bigfoot and besides the clear photo and video we have something even more shocking, A BODY. Please bear with us at this time. We have hired legal help. History is in the making,” they stated on their site. Ben Radford, managing editor for Skeptical Inquirer magazine, said: “It’s smelling to high heaven like a hoax.”
  • Judge led prayer in court – An Alabama judge who once wore the Ten Commandments embroidered on his robe has been accused of violating judicial ethics for ordering a group in his courtroom to hold hands and pray. The ACLU complaint said McKathan dropped to his knees and prayed aloud during a court hearing in February. He told the 100 people in the courtroom that he was not afraid to call on the name of Jesus Christ, witnesses said, and ordered all to join hands and pray, according to the complaint filed soon after the hearing. In response to the complaint, McKathan told the Mobile Press-Register for a story Thursday: “Whatever comes of all that, I’ll continue to have peace.” Quoting Romans in the King James version of the Bible, the judge added: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose.”

  • Mob kills 50-year old “blasphemous” Nigerian man – A 50-year-old Muslim man, who allegedly made a blasphemous statement against Prophet Muhammad, was beaten to death in Kano on Saturday. The man was killed at Sheka Aci Lafiya quarters when some angry Muslim youths besieged his house and beat him to a state of coma. He was beaten and left unconscious before the police intervened and dispersed the crowd.
  • Saudi man kills daughter for converting to Christianity – A Saudi man working with the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice recently killed his daughter for converting to Christianity. According to sources close to the victim, the religious police member had cut the tongue of the girl and burned her to death following a heated debate on religion.

According to the Saudi newspaper, Okaz, the news emerged after the mother of the child reported her husband and took him to court to prevent the marriage from going ahead.
  • Netherlands allows polygamous marriages for Muslims only – Although polygamy is banned in the Netherlands, the marriages of Muslims who have several wives are recognised by Dutch authorities. Registrars in the major cities, in particular, record dozens of bigamous or polygamous marriages per year. These marriages are prohibited and an offence in the Netherlands. However, polygamous marriages that take place in countries where more than one wife is permitted, such as Morocco, are accepted, newspaper NRC Handelsblad reports.
  • Saudi woman arrested for driving a car – Saudi religious police have arrested a woman in the region of Qatif in eastern Saudi Arabia for driving a car. The woman was later released after her family posted bail, and will now be put on trial. Conservatives argue that if women were allowed to drive, this would lead to women being able to mix freely with men, to corruption and the destruction of family values.

  • Acupuncture helps shed pounds… says Men’s Fitness magazine – Acupuncture can drastically speed recovery from sports injuries and increase the effectiveness of your workouts. It is also known to help shed pounds, reduce stress, and improve performance in the bedroom—so you can return your body to the temple it’s meant to be. - Temple of stupidity that is! Good thing I don’t subscribe to this garbage!
  • Preacher kills 85 year old man after stealing more than $1 million from him - A rural California preacher was convicted Monday of murdering an 85-year-old farmer after stealing more than $1 million from the elderly bachelor’s trust. Prosecutors accused Porter, 57, of staging two auto wrecks to cover up the more than $1.1 million he stole from Craig’s sizable fortune.  The first crash left Craig unable to walk, and the second – in April 2004 – plunged the pair into an irrigation canal where Craig drowned. – Now if he repents does that mean he’ll go to heaven? What kind of BS would that be?
  • Iran suspends death by stoningA judiciary spokesman said four people sentenced to die by stoning had had their sentences commuted and that all other cases had been put under review. Stoning is the penalty for crimes such as adultery under Iranian law, but it is rarely carried out. The last such execution was reportedly last year. The country’s penal code stipulates that before carrying out the punishment, men should be buried up to their waists and women up to their chests. The stones used must be large enough to cause the condemned pain, but not sufficient to kill immediately.- It’s a step in the right direction, but it won’t mean much until it’s completely abolished.
  • Couples marrying on 8/8/08 ’cause it’s luckyThe number eight has long been considered fortuitous in China, where people pay extra to have it in phone numbers and license plates – and the opening ceremony for the Beijing Olympic Games falls on Aug. 8. “We chose the date because eight has always been our lucky number,” said upcoming bride Denise Becker, 26, a middle school teacher in East Northport, N.Y. She and her fiance always found themselves in Seat 8, Row 8, at movie theaters with eight screens. She started planning her wedding 1 1/2 years ago and was surprised that venues were booked. – Now, just how the hell do you go about figuring out your lucky number? And why do people stick with a number from 0-9? I would like for once to meet a person whose lucky number was something like 3,457,289,004,111! That’s a hell of a lot better than 8, I think!
  • Muslim holiday at Tyson pisses off Christians - The union that represents workers at a Tyson Foods poultry plant in Tennessee has negotiated a contract that substitutes a Muslim holiday for Labor Day as one of the eight paid holidays at the plant. “You are a union that is proud of achieving a Muslim holiday and prayer room?” one person wrote the union. “A union in the U.S.A., a country based on Christianity. You call yourselves Americans? Have you forgotten 9/11?” Another wrote: “You had no right to drop Labor Day. Muslim employees must integrate Labor Day into THEIR lives if they are going to live in America.” - Bigotry…check! Hypocrisy…check. Paranoia…check! America, the land of the free? Not if these nut jobs are in charge…wait a minute one of them is! Now, I would expect Tyson to offer the same deal to atheists of course! Wait a minute, that will enrage both the christians and the muslims! Tough!

  • UFO crashed 150 million years ago. - According to the anonymous sources, it crashed approximately 150 million years ago during the age of the dinosaurs. - What, you have a problem with anonymous sources eh?
  • Cheap atheists? – Campaigners hoped to raise the raise the £23,400 necessary to buy a prominent two-week slot on a “bendy bus” by collecting £5 pledges from atheists online. A specially-created website had attracted only 877 pledges when its deadline passed on Thursday, far short of the 4,678 people needed.- Ok, so here’s my excuse: I was on vacation and didn’t hear anything until now. But seriously, come on atheists, get your shit together, it’s a numbers game, divided we fall!
  • Animal rights nuts attack scientists - In the off-campus incident, a well-known molecular biologist and his family, including two small children, were forced to escape a smoke-filled house using a second-story ladder after a firebomb was intentionally set, Santa Cruz police said. One family member sustained injuries requiring brief hospitalization, and police are calling the firebombing, which occurred shortly before 6 a.m., a case of attempted homicide. About the same time, a car belonging to a researcher parked at an on-campus home was also firebombed, destroying the vehicle. – Hey at least the rats are safe now. I say, when they find these morons, don’t throw them in jail. However, next time they need a drug, after say a particularly gruesome car accident, they should be denied all kind of drugs/medical procedures which was at some point in it’s development tested on lab animals. Bunch of hypocrites!

  • 64 year old Sauidy man to wait 5 years before he rapes little girl – According to local newspapers yesterday, the man — who has already paid a SR100,000 dowry to the father of the girl and signed the marriage contract — now says he would wait until the girl is 15 to complete the marriage. Explaining the circumstances that led to the marriage, the man’s son said his father never had a second wife. He said the girl’s father taunted his father saying he was willing to marry his daughter to him if he paid SR100,000 in dowry. “My father accepted the challenge, paid the money and became the husband of the young woman,” the son was quoted as saying. - Oh, well he was dared! What did you expect him to do ignore it? I also think that the local police should wait 4 years 364 days before they throw his ass in jail for the rest of his miserable life!
  • More Saudi nonsense women not allowed to drive -A young Saudi girl drove her brother’s car and was caught in the act. Notice, I have not made any reference to a “crime.” Necessary action was taken against her. What was the necessary action in this case? This involved interrogating the “wrongdoer.” Notice again I have not made any reference to a “criminal.” Her guardian was summoned and was made to pledge that she would not repeat this “act.” She was set free and went home. – You may think that the article’s writer may be calling for such stupidity to be abolished right away. Not a chance in muslim hell! He want’s the police to do this: “It would be appreciated if a traffic police spokesman would take the initiative to clarify such incidents instead of leaving it to newspapers to publish them with all the journalistic sensationalism and suspense. It would also be appreciated if the traffic police would follow the steps of the Interior Ministry, which issues press statements through its official spokesman on all cases and issues.” Yeah, tell him exactly how he’s supposed to discriminate women. You’re confusing the poor man!
  • Virgin Mary down the drain - A plumber working on restaurant renovations in Salinas said he found the image of the Virgin Mary in a floor drain Wednesday. The building has seen several ventures come and go in the past six years since Spados closed down, and the new owner said he sees the sign
as a blessing of hope for the new restaurant. - Why does this lady choose such weird places to appear, beats me? Grilled cheese? Watered wall? Drain? What’s next, a piece of poo? I think we should have a contest and have people send in pictures of poo that looks like some religious icon. All submittions can be sent to thoushallthink@gmail.com

  • Cancer center director warns of cell phone use – The head of a prominent cancer research institute issued an unprecedented warning to his faculty and staff Wednesday: Limit cell phone use because of the possible risk of cancer. Herberman is basing his alarm on early unpublished data. He says it takes too long to get answers from science and he believes people should take action now — especially when it comes to children. - Maybe it takes too long to get the answer YOU WANT from science. It seems that there were some serious studies on the matter ( one involving 420,00 participants) and they all came back with no association, except for a remote correlation with one specific type of brain tumor. Let’s see, he’s ignoring existing studies, citing unpublished (thus not peer reviewed) data and bringing children in. Sound familiar?
  • Cancer Vaccine??Researchers have developed a plant-based cancer vaccine capable of kick-starting the body’s immune response and being tailored to a patient’s specific tumor type, according to a study released Monday. While they have not yet determined whether the immune response is sufficient to destroy the cancer, the researchers are hopeful that the technique could one day lead to a cure for at lease some types of the deadly disease - Too bad vaccines cause autism, so we won’t be able to use this one if it pans out. What you don’t trust Jim Carrey?
  • Amanda Peet backs up her vaccination statementsHowever, I still believe that the decision not to vaccinate our children bodes for a dangerous future. Vast reductions in immunization will lead to a resurgence of deadly viruses. This is as indisputable as global warming. I know a lot of parents who secretly use as a justification, “Well, enough other people are vaccinating, so therefore, we don’t have to.” - I understand why from a PR point of view Amanda Peet must apologize for using the word “parasite” in regards to the parents that refuse to vaccinate kids. Thankfully I don’t have to worry about PR so let it go on record that THOSE PARENTS THAT REFUSE TO VACCINATE THEIR CHILDREN ARE NOT ONLY PARASITES BUT DOWNRIGHT IRRESPONSIBLE AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IF THEIR KIDS DEVELOP THE DISEASES THAT THEY WERE NOT VACCINATED FOR. That said, Amanda Peet remains my favorite Hollywood actress!
  • Kidnapped a little girl, forcefully married & converted to Islam? No problem, not in Pakistan - A Christian father in Pakistan is trying without success through the courts to gain custody of his two pre-teen daughters who were kidnapped and made to convert to Islam. The kidnappers, who had married the girls, had also filed for custody of the girls at a local police station on 28 June, asserting that the sisters had converted to Islam and their father no longer had jurisdiction over them. - What? And hear this, the judge agrees with the kidnappers! Ah, is there anything we won’t turn a blind eye on for our “allies in the war on terror”?
  • Radovan Karadzic was practicing CAM – Could this be the moment when alternative medicine finally gets the reputation it deserves and is seen for what it is – a massive social and intellectual fraud? Everything that is wrong with complementary and alternative medicine is contained in the two stories that have dominated the news this week – the discovery that Radovan Karadzic had reinvented himself as a white-haired guru offering homeopathy, energy medicine and acupuncture, and the story of Dawn Page, a woman who is now brain-damaged after she went on a “detox diet”. For alternative medicine is not only founded on lies and falsehoods, but it can be very bad indeed for your health – Do you think the fact that a guy like Karadzic can easily infiltrate the (S)CAM community will deter the believers? I don’t think so. I mean, they already know you don’t need any kind of accreditation to become a (S)CAM practitioner. The likely result? They’ll consult a psychic before they sign up with their new (S)CAM “doctor”! **DEEP SIGH**

  • 19 year old Christian boy beaten to death for courting 19 year old Muslim girl – Muslim family became ruthless with Peter’s mother. They decided tie girl’s knot with a Muslim man, as soon as possible. By utilizing Muslim girl’s innocent love, they rang Peter and forced the girl to call him at some desolate place. He at once hired a motorbike and went to that secluded place – to his death, where girl’s two uncles and her father manhandled him brutally. “They took Peter by force. They trussed him and tortured him for almost two days. Peter could not bear the severity of the torture and died eventually.” And this was for merely talking to an intolerant, hard line Muslim neighbor’s girl on the phone. Was it such a severe matter that he had to disburse a grave cost of it? - Of course not! But this is what religion does to people. It teaches them not to think, not to use common sense, but to blindly follow dogma. In fact, I think religion is the killer of common sense. It is truly and really a wolf disguised in sheep’s skin.
  • Astrologers pick king coronation date - In 2008 the country formally became a constitutional monarchy and the king relinquished his absolute powers. Prime Minister Lyonchhen Jigmi Y Thinley said three enlightened astrologers had jointly proposed 6 November as the most auspicious date for the coronation. – Say, who better than astrologers to pick the coronation date of a powerless king?
  • Brain damage from “detoxification” diet - The High Court heard Dawn Page, 52, began vomiting uncontrollably after starting The Amazing Hydration Diet. The court heard Mrs Page, from Faringdon, near Swindon, claimed Mrs Nash told her to drink large amounts of water and reduce her salt intake when she started the diet in October 2001.Her husband Geoff, 54, said: “Her life has been seriously affected, perhaps ruined, by this fad-type way of losing weight, which I can only say is a dangerous method of weight loss.” – Well I guess we’re gonna have to rely on the foot bath bucket to get our daily dose of detoxification!
  • Waren Jeffs indicted - A Texas grand jury on Tuesday charged the jailed polygamist leader of a breakaway Mormon sect with sexually assaulting a child and indicted five followers after state officials raided a polygamist ranch near Eldorado in April. Jeffs has already been sentenced in a Utah court to 10 years to life in prison as an accomplice to rape for forcing a 14-year-old girl to marry her 19-year-old first cousin. He is in jail in Arizona awaiting trial on similar charges for arranged marriages there. - Good for Texas!
