16-year-old girl buried alive by her own family for “befriending boys”.

ANKARA – A 16-year-old girl was buried alive by relatives in southeast Turkey in a gruesome honour killing just because she reportedly befriended boys, the Anatolia news agency reported Thursday.

It doesn’t even say that she was sexually active or anything; for goodness’ sake these dickheads killed her for befriending boys. WTF is wrong with people?

A subsequent post mortem revealed that she had a significant amount of soil in her lungs and stomach, meaning that she was buried alive, foresic experts told the agency.

“The autopsy result is blood-curdling. According to our findings, the girl — who had no bruises on her body and no sign of narcotics or poison in her blood — was alive and fully conscious when she was buried,” one anonymous expert said.

Who would do that to their own flesh and blood? I can understand a stranger, a mentally ill person, but a supposedly sane father should be unable, mentally and physically, to do that to his own daughter. Fuck!

Medine’s father and grandfather have been formally arrested and jailed pending trial over her killing, the agency said.

The father is reported to have said in his testimony that the family was unhappy she had male friends.

This is one of the few instances when I think the eye-for-an-eye, or in this case lung-full-of-dirt-for-lung-full-of-dirt, is warranted. Let them rot!

Dishonorable killings continue

Yet more news of (dis)honor killings keep coming our way. This time it was a brother  who killed his  sister, with a sword, for marrying someone from another caste.

A case of “honour killing” was reported at Musapur village in the district on Tuesday, where Sukhdeep Singh (21) murdered her sister Rupinder Kaur (22) who had been living in the same village after solemnising inter-caste court marriage about four years ago.Raj Rani, mother-in-law of Rupinder Kaur, in her statement, said that in a frenzy, Sukhdeep holding a sword in his hand entered her residence in broad daylight and started attacking his sister with the sword. She tried to push him away and raised the alarm, but he continued to attack his sister.

Will this bullshit ever be defeated? And what can possibly motivate someone to have a “fit of rage” 4 years after the fact? You’d think that the fit of rage would hit when the “incident” happens not after 4 years. I guess peer pressure, mocking and insults added up until at some point this person exploded. But I wonder, why not take the sword to the folks giving you a hard time instead of your sister? I can pretty much guarantee that a couple of those kind of honor killings would put a damper on this nonsense.

Female Pakistani Singer Killed In Peshawar

Posted in News by Skepdude on May 1, 2009

PESHAWAR, Pakistan — Ayman Udas, a rising female vocalist in Peshawar, the capital of Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province, was shot at her home, allegedly by her own brothers.

Her death has rattled the city’s jittery artistic community, as local musicians and dancers in Peshawar — a city renowned for its vibrant artistic life — face increasing pressure as the region falls under greater Taliban influence.

Some attributed Udas’s death to the Islamist militants, but her husband told reporters that his wife was killed because she broke family traditions.

A beautiful woman in her early 30s and mother of two, Udas recently remarried after a divorce. Her two brothers, Alamgir and Ismail, disapproved of her divorce, remarriage, and her artistic career, all of which disgrace a family’s name in conservative Islamic society.

Taleban ‘kill love affair couple’

Posted in News by Skepdude on April 14, 2009

The Taleban in Afghanistan have publicly killed a young couple who they said had tried to run away to get married, officials say.

The man, 21, and woman, 19, were shot dead on Monday in front of a mosque in the south-western province of Nimroz.

Nimroz is an area where the Taleban have a strong influence.

Governor Ghulam Dastageer Azad told the AFP news agency the killings followed a decree by local religious leaders and were an “insult to Islam”.

Dangerous region

Mr Azad said: “An unmarried young boy and an unmarried girl who loved each other and wanted to get married had eloped because their families would not approve the marriage.”

Officials said the couple were traced by militants after they tried to go to Iran. They were made to return to their village in Khash Rod district.

“Three Taleban mullahs brought them to the local mosque and they passed a fatwa (religious decree) that they must be killed. They were shot and killed in front of the mosque in public,” the governor said.

Amnesty: Rape girl, 13, killed for adultery

Posted in News by Skepdude on November 2, 2008

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — A 13-year-old girl who said she had been raped was stoned to death in Somalia after being accused of adultery by Islamic militants, a human rights group said.

Dozens of men stoned Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow to death Oct. 27 in a stadium packed with 1,000 spectators in the southern port city of Kismayo, Amnesty International and Somali media reported, citing witnesses. The Islamic militia in charge of Kismayo had accused her of adultery after she reported that three men had raped her, the rights group said.

Initial local media reports said Duhulow was 23, but her father told Amnesty International she was 13. Some of the Somali journalists who first reported the killing later told Amnesty International that they had reported she was 23 based upon her physical appearance.
